California Gurls ... are obviously trash.

Hitting #1 on the US Billboard charts is Katy Perry, ft. Snoop Dogg's California Gurls.
"California girls
We're unforgettable
Daisy Dukes
Bikinis on top
Sun-kissed skin
So hot
we'll melt your popsicle "

Ahem.

Ewww.
Okay, I saw her live in '08 and she was pretty rad ... now she sucks.
I can't figure this out, does she know that Daisy Duke was from Georgia? (Hence the shorts!)
The sun kissed skin might be okay, except artificial sun doesn't really count.

"The girls a freak, She drives a jeep" I thought she drove daddy's sports car.
"Come on boys, Hanging out, All that a-s, hanging out" So he thinks all California girls are easy and immodest?
"California girls man, I wish they all could be, California girls" So he wants all of us to be cheap and easy?

Hmm... I don't like this song and I'm not even from California. BTW, IT SOUNDS LIKE PARTY IN THE USA!

Try these lyrics ...

Well I ain't never had a problem with California
There's a lot of good women, from Sacramento to Corona
But them Hollywood types, after a while wear on ya
Strutin' around in their size zeros,
Skinny little girls no meat on their bones
Never even heard of George Jones

Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls
Ain't you glad there's still a few of us left, who know how to rock your world
Ain't afraid to eat fried chicken and dirty dance to Merle
Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls

There ain't nothing wrong with plastic surgery
Well, Dolly Parton never looked so good to me
Everybody oughta be exactly who they want to be
But that Paris Hilton gets under my skin
With her big fake smile and her painted on tan
Never had a chance at a real man

I wouldn't be surprised if that was her natural hair color ... unlike Katy Perry (sorry blue isn't that natural.)

You judge, what would be a better representation for California girls?

A Great and Terrible Beauty

A Great and Terrible Beauty is the first book in the Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray. A story filled with tragedy and secrets. A young girl raised in India till the mysterious murder of her mother sends her to England to Spence Academy, where she learns of manners and good behavior. But there is much more to uncover at Spence, like an ancient order and other releams. She comes to meet new friends and the gypsies who live in the woods, and a boy who she recognizes from the scene of her mother’s death. With great power comes great responsibility, To bad she has to figure that out the hard way.

The book kept me drawn in and always questioning what will happen next. The characters were very likable and interesting. Witchcraft isn’t exactly the right term for it but whatever this is it’s pretty cool till things start to get out of hand. The story isn’t completely focused on teenage romance as most of today’s books are, cough Twilight cough. Though I did love Katrik. The book was great and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good series.

Part 1 - Bands

In my opinion there are a lot of amazing bands out there that are unknown to most people. Most bands of today are overrated and just plain suck. Here is a list of bands that I enjoy and think need to be known! Well, they are at least looking up.

The description next to the name of the band is just to give you an idea what they sound like (ITS MY OPINION, FEEL FREE TO DISAGREE).

Part 1: Punk

Alkaline Trio - Pop punk/post punk/mainstream punk sound

The Adolescents - Punk rock

Agent Orange - mix punk rock and surf music

Be Your Own Pet - Pop punk/female fronted punk

The Donnas - Post punk/punk rock/female fronted punk

D Generation - Punk rock

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - punk rock/Cover band

The Nerve Scheme - Punk rock

Pennywise - punk rock/post punk

Not exactly punk but still:

Modest Mouse - Indie/Alternative

Blessed Le Strange - Indie/Cabaret rock/folk industrial rock

Vedera - Alternative/pop rock

Love Love Kiss Kiss

Love Love Kiss Kiss is an amazing song by Alkaline Trio.  The song is off of their 2008 studio album Agony and Irony.

"Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band that formed in McHenry, Illinois, in 1996. The band's line-up consists of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass), and Derek Grant (drums)."  - Wikipedia

Lyrics:

Take a look and see I painted you a picture.
Its black and white except the blood's a little richer.
Down in the corner where I gave it my signature,
and then I titled it, " This One's for the Winter "
Check it out you see it's just a big disaster.

I dedicate it to the fact that it's so hard for you to dream.
A million heartbeats all around you make it hard to sleep.
Doesn't help you're freezing in your bed, your blankets aren't enough
All you want is someone there and all you say is "So what"

Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.
You're making me sick
I wish you'd just stop showing off for the rest of us that no one wants to love
It's hard enough of trying to drink another winter all alone
Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.

Well do you find you like to fall in love with people that you're never gonna meet?
It's easier than breaking up and crying in the street
Do you curse the happy couple? Do you cringe at wedding bells?
Do you drink up all the punch, while you wish them all to hell?

Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.
You're making me sick
I wish you'd just stop showing off for the rest of us that no one wants to love.
It's hard enough of trying to drink in all the winter all alone.
Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, Blah, Blah.

You can't escape this fatal case of melancholia
It's in your face, and every place you go it's stalking you.
and there are days when we all say we just can't go on.
But you felt this way all along.

Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.
You're making me sick.
I wish you'd just stop showing off for the rest of us that no one wants to love.
It's hard enough trying to drink another winter all alone.
Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.

Love, love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.
You're making me sick
I wish you'd just stop showing off for the rest of us that no one wants to love
It's hard enough of trying to drink another winter all alone
Love love, kiss kiss.
Blah, blah, blah.

Chorus Sprig Concert

Last night we had our final concert of the year. I had a great time and I loved all the songs. I can't wait for next year to do all this again! Out of everything I am probably going to miss chorus class the most over the summer.

Afterwards we went to Applebee's since there was karaoke and stuff. I didn't get a chance to karaoke but me and my friend are already planning on going back soon so we can. I think we are going to sing Telephone by Lady Gaga Ft. Beyonce. I get to be Beyonce. ;) This will be interesting.

Okay, Okay, I Promised ...

I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I do not have time to write a review now but I will as soon as I can. Give me at least till this weekend and it will be done. I have a chorus concert tonight so I am busy. Overall it was a good book and I can't wait to read the others' in the series.

Reading?

I need to read more. I haven't had a proper review on here in forever. I will definately post one as soon as I finish reading A Great and Terrible Beauty. It is a very good book by Libba Bray so you all should go out and read it. I have a quarter of it to go so lets hope I finish it soon.

So I'm Sitting in Science Class ... (Still)

So I'm better now ... and I'm still sitting in science class and singing of course! On My Own is stuck in my head. >.< Oh well, I love that song.

On my own

pretending he's beside me
all alone I walk with him till morning
without him I feel his arms around me
and when I lose my way I close my
eyes and he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
all the lights are misty in the river
in the darkness the trees are full of starlight

and all I see is him and me forever and forever

And I know it's only in my mind,
that I'm talking to myself and not to him.
And although I know that he is blind,
still I say, there's a way for us.

I love him
But when the night is over
he is gone- the river's just a river
Without him the world around me changes
the trees are bare and everywhere the
streets are full of strangers

I love him
But every day I'm learning
all my life I've only been pretending
Without me his world would go on turning
a world that's full of happiness
that I have never known

I love him
I love him
I love him
but only on my own

<3

Can you tell I'm bored? I'm about to leave ... and yeah ... On my owwwwnnn ...

SO I'm in Science Class ...

I'm sitting in science class and we are starting on a project ... oh, and I want to kill these black people sitting next to me. THEY ARE IDIOTS. They didn't get with a partner when they should have and they didn't return their slip when she asked so she collected all of the slips from EVERYONE (me) and I GOT THE ONE I WANTED ... THE EXACT ONE! SO now I have sandy beaches which beaches are only cool for having parties and going on walks so what am I suppose to be doing? GRRRR ... I hate this class, its boring and their is no value in it. Why can't I be in physics or chemistry, an interesting class?

Why do teachers refuse to let us do stuff for ourselves? Why couldn't we choose something we WANTED to learn about?

Anyway, This is how I feel in this class most of the time ....

And She's Buying a Stairway to Heaven

So I was selected to be the May Queen at church and crown the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was fun though my family has decided to sing Stairway tonhewven around me now.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean
For the May Queen

Long Time, No Post ...

Okay, So I've been performing in the Virginia International Tattoo which took up a lot of my time.
What is the Virginia International Tattoo?
Presented annually in Norfolk, Virginia, the Virginia International Tattoo is an exhibition of marching bands, massed pipes and drums, drill teams, gymnasts, Scottish dancers, choirs and more. Each year, a cast of over 800 artists from several countries creates an unforgettable spectacle under one roof for four breathtaking performances. The Virginia International Tattoo is the largest show of its kind in the United States.

So it was sort of a huge deal. It was amazing. I met people from Korea, Russia, and Scotland. There were Canadians and Americans as well as all our Military bands. I sang with the VPAA Choir, a local chorus from The Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School. It was tons of fun and the show was astounding.

We are the people in the Red Dresses on the stage. ;)

Lyrics from it "I'm broken when I'm lonesome and I don't feel right when your gone ... away."

Lyrics from it "Go get your shovel and we'll dig a deep hole to bury the castle." and "Her prince finally came to save her and the rest you can figure out but it was a trick and the clock struck 12."

Sorry.

Okay, so I've been busy and grounded. I feel the need to actually start posting again. My problem is I wanted to post pictures from spring break but sadly my camera is broken. So I'll have to just forget that and move on ...

Would you rather be rich or famous?

Well, It depends. I want to help others so if I was famous I would want to set a good example for kids and generations to come but if I was rich I would do a lot to help out charities and the community so either is fine.

Wild Horses Couldn't Drag Me Away

My video is finally finished for Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones.
Check it out:

It wasn't like I had planned due to lack of time for filming and editing. Its not that bad though.

There is also a monologue that goes with it but I only have a webcam at the moment so I'm not sure if I'll do the monologue and upload it for a while. Subscribe or just look for it here, I'm sure I'll have more videos soon. =)

Amazing.

This weekend has been a lot of fun. I have got to hang out with friends go to 2 B-day parties. Though I also went to see Alice In Wonderland.
Things I thought about the movie:
1. I like this Alice. She's not a brat.
2. I liked the moral/theme of it.
3. I didn't really like the fact Johnny Depp decided to play the Mad Hatter as a Scot.
4. I wasn't crazy about it being in 3D (and I've heard if you don't see it in 3D then it really feels like it should be.)
5. I didn't really love it but I liked it. =)

Mr. Rock & Roll

Mr. Rock & Roll by Amy MacDonald. Good song. =)

School ...

Okay, I hate school. If you already know me then you definitely know that fact. I've had a problem with public school ever since I started but my grades are now the lowest they've been in the past 3 years. Everyone seems to be a complete idiot and the teaching styles are terrible as well. I am sick of being looked down on like a first grader and talked to as if I can't tell the difference between an apple and an orange. No one is helping me, instead they feel the need to do more hands-on activities and promote being organized and being able to color in the lines. I just need to be hold straight up what it is that I need to know. I don't want to color a map or draw a picture (or be expect to color in the lines!)... I just need to hear some one say "You need to know, this, this, and this ..." and explain why.

I love the academy though. =)

Fallen by Lauren Kate

Fallen is a young adult book by Lauren. The main character, a girl named Luce has a troubled life. She see's things, she calls the shadows, that make people think she's mentally unstable. After the mysterious death of her boyfriend she is sent from her prep school in New England back to her hometown of Savannah, Ga. Where is starts to attend a boarding school for troubled youth (in other words, everyone has a major criminal record). She immediately meets a few new friends and falls for the worse guy on campus. The mysterious blonde jerk, Daniel. Though he likes playing hot and cold with her, there is another guy who seems to be eying her, Cam. Cam is the sweet fun popular tall guy that is attracted to her and she is somewhat attracted to him. The problem is the shadows seem to be getting worse. Strange things start happening. Fires, fights, and only one phone call a week. What is happening? Why does she feel this way? Is she really dangerous?

I loved this book! It is nothing like Twilight so don't listen to the people who claim it to be. It was well written and I couldn't stop reading it. It truely made me think and wonder. I loved the plot, I could put it down. I didn't just want to know what was going to happen, I NEEDED to know. I definitely recommend this book.

My Grammy Recap

The Grammys ... In one word, depressing. Lady Gaga and Elton were pretty awesome but anything with Elton is awesome. This year was probably the worse in a long time. In Sleep He Sang to Me ...

In 1988, on this day The Phantom of the Opera premiered on Broadway. It is one of the most recognized musicals of all time and it remains the longest running Broadway musical. People everywhere love the mysterious Phantom who lives in the tunnels under the Paris Opera house and secretly were rooting for him to win the lovely Christine Daae's heart. (Don't lie, you know that's true.) Though Raoul, Christine's childhood sweetheart shows up and the adventure begins ...

It is always held on January 22, other than last were the date was moved due to Obama's ignageration on the 21st. The crowd consisted of somewhere between 250 to 300 thousand people who marched from the Mall to the Supreme Court building.

The Worse Death of '09

The Rev. (James Owen Sullivan)

The Rev. was found dead on December 28, 2009. He was only 28 years of age but at the time his death was said to be of natural causes. If you don't know who this amazing human being is then you obviously have missed out on a lot in life. He was only one of the best drummers of our time. He played in an insanely awesome band called Avenged Sevenfold (A7X). He has always been an idol of mine. He truely seemed to be an all around great guy. He got into trouble but always seemed to have an honest heart. I could tell he loved his friends and in my head and heart A7X might never be the same ... but he will always live on as one of my all time favorite drummers.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth

The Forest of Hands and Teeth is a book by Carrie Ryan. It focusses on a young girl, named Mary, who lives in what they think is the last colony on Earth that is surrounded by the unconsecrated (zombies). They live their lives in fear that they might end up an unconsecrated if they are ever bitten by one. All Mary wants is to be married to the boy of her dreams, Travis but he is already betrothed to her best friend. She is forced to either marry Harry, the brother of Travis or become a sister. After she loses both her father and mother then is forced to live with the sisters after her brother disowns her, claiming it was her fault for their mother becoming an unconsecrated. Mary does keep one dream though ... To visit the ocean. No one had seen it though her mother claims it is real and told her stories of it being the only place not touched by the unconsecrated. Mary never forgets the stories and never stops dreaming of one day finding it. Though a mysterious visitor has been taken in by the sisters ... A visitor not from the village. Soon Mary finds herself on a journey to find the ocean with the people she loves most. This book was great! It really had me pulled in and attach to certain parts. It is a very depressing book but I think it gives us all hope. It definately shows when everything goes wrong, don't give up, continue on ... and don't let anything stand in the way of your dreams no matter what. I recommend this book to anyone wanting an erie book that really provokes thought even with all the drama. It is a good read.

School Days ...

School starts back today. I am not looking forward to it, AT ALL. Time for me to deprive myself of sleep and lunch. I really hate only getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night but I can't really do anything about it. I can't wait till I can drive and get a car. I need to go to the DMV sometime soon to take the tests and get my learners permit ... but my mom puts everything off. *sigh* School ... soon... yuck ...
Classes today:
Latin (KILL ME! I have 1 friend and the teacher hates everyone!)
English (Soooooo easy and boring)
World History (Not more work!!!)
Science (Its okay)

Will I survive? Maybe. I'll find out at 2 o' clock.
